Who are the instructors?
Terry Milne
I first developed an appreciation for the outdoors while growing up in Ontario on a small hundred-acre hobby farm. I would guide my friends around our property on a wide array of adventures through our hardwoods, swamps and hay fields. This passion for guiding eventually led me to Lakehead Univeristy’s Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism and Experiential Education programs. While attending Lakehead University, I was able to hone my hard and soft skills in the outdoor field. It was here where I became obsessed with river travel, rock and ice climbing, mountain biking, skiing, and camping. Throughout university I worked in Jasper, Alberta during the summers, raft guiding day trips down the Sunwapta and Athabasca Rivers. Jasper is where I gained a greater appreciation for the mountain lifestyle. After finishing teacher’s college, my partner and I loaded up her car and made the move to Yukon in midwinter. People thought we were crazy! For the past 10 years I have been working as an Outdoor Education teacher in Whitehorse. From whitewater canoes to mountain bikes to x-country skis, I have been super fortunate to be a part of and faciliatate many positive outdoor experiences. In the summers I have been able to guide with Canadian River Expeditions on the Nahanni and Alsek rivers. I have learned the North is a magical place, I hope to be able to share these experiences with my students.
